Mount Leinster

Highlight • Summit

Nice trig pointed summit marked by a trig point and a rather large communication mast that is local landmark for miles around. Great hike to the top and lovely views over to Blackstairs mountain and the surrounding countryside.

Mount Leinster East Top Summit

Highlight • Summit

This is the summit for Mount Leinster East Top 654m and as such is a designated Hewitt. Not an inspiring summit and also unmarked but it is a half way point between Mount Leinster and Black Rock.

Turf Cutter's Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Landmark at the top of Black Mountain that can be a lifesaver if the Irish weather sets in. If you have to dive for refuge in the hut you'll likely find plenty of other adventurers doing the same!

Turf Cutters' Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

I didn't expect to see this quaint turf cutters hut on the plateau between East top and Black Rock. Lots of room inside and could be used as an overnight …

Black Rock

Highlight • Climb

Not the highest climb around but it's a good challenge and provides great views over to Leinster Mountain on a clear day.

Black Rock is the terminal peak of the eastern shoulder of Mount Leinster and is 599m high and marked with an imposting stone cairn. A good viewing point looking ahead at Mt Leinster East Top and Mt Leinster itself.

Mount Leinster

Highlight • Summit

At 794m high Mount Leinster is a tough challenge. A famous climb with a radio tower at the top, the view is exceptional (if the weather is clear). Well worth the climb to the top.
