This is what Geocaching.com says:
This is a cache in Stadtlohn that takes you back a good 60 years. On March 11, 21, and 22, 1945, British and American units launched attacks against Stadtlohn, which was marked on the maps of the German army command as Fortress "Veronika." The fighting ended with the British invasion on March 29, 1945. Over 90% of the city was destroyed, and 296 people lost their lives. In the weeks before the bombing raids, prisoners of war and foreign workers, joined by numerous miners from the nearby Ruhr region as "Schanzer," had dug a 3-meter-deep and approximately 8-meter-wide anti-tank ditch. The ditch extended south of Stadtlohn through the western plain to the road to Vreden. Concrete shelters with machine gun nests had been built in this area to the rear. The inner city area was surrounded by a network of trenches and communication trenches. Today, over 60 years later, almost all traces of this terrible time have been erased. This is a good thing, as farmers, in particular, had their fair share of trouble after the war with the massive ditches that crisscrossed their fields. However... now part of the city, two of these "structures" have survived the 60 years completely undamaged. Only nature has attempted to cover them with a little sand. Forgotten, they eke out an existence in a small forest on the outskirts of Stadtlohn. They are two concrete shelters, former machine gun nests. The entry area is completely open. The muzzle opening has been almost completely filled with sand over the years. However, it is still relatively easy to recognize. The massive "one-man bunkers" are located directly on a walking path, about 100 meters apart.

Stadtlohn Dog Off-Leash Area

Highlight • Rest Area

A lovely, fenced-in off-leash meadow with poop bag dispensers, an entrance gate, etc. Benches are also available. It's a great place to meet up with other dogs for playtime.
