Old Parish House, Haimhausen

Highlight • Historical Site

The first written mention of a rectory in Haimhausen dates from 1524. This rectory burned down completely in 1588, with all parish documents being lost. The rapid reconstruction had numerous defects, and from 1690 to 1699 the rectory was rebuilt again. In 1799, this building also fell victim to the flames due to arson. Despite the most adverse circumstances, the rectory was rebuilt between 1801 and 1803 as a stately two-story house with rough plaster detailing. The dimensions and largely the floor plan come from the predecessor building from 1699. Between 1997 and 1999, the Old Rectory was renovated.

St. Nikolaus Church

The patron saint of the Roman Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas is Saint Nicholas of Myra. The hall church, originally late Gothic in its core, was redesigned in Baroque style from 1698 to 1701. It consists of the nave, extended westward in the 19th century, the chancel to the east, and the 36-meter-high chancel flank tower on its south wall. Four bells hang in the tower, crowned by an onion dome, and the floor above houses the tower clock.
