Very nice section of the Weser cycle path between Beverungen and Blankenau directly on the bank - no car far and wide. Magnificent landscape!

Very worthwhile castle park with some botanical rarities (for example a remarkable Süntel beech) and beautiful, old trees near the Weser or the Weser cycle path.

On the Weser

Highlight • Historical Site

Bad Karlshafen (Low German: Korlshoawen) is a spa town in the Kassel district and the northernmost municipality in Hesse.

The town, which covers an area of 14.85 km², has a population of 3,778, of which 2,300 live in the Bad Karlshafen district and 1,600 in the Helmarshausen district (a climatic health resort, an independent municipality until 1972).

Since 1977, Karlshafen has been known as Bad Karlshafen and is also promoted as a saltwater spa and baroque town. The town is a state-recognized spa.

The historic Weser port was cut off from the Weser River in the 1920s. In 2018, it was reconnected to the Weser River; thanks to a lock, the water level in the port is independent of that in the Weser River.
