Burgstall Lichtenroth on Engelsfelsen

Highlight • Historical Site

The path up to the Engelsfelsen is steep and slippery, so proceed with caution. Behind it, however, is a wonderful view of the Naab Valley in both directions. This is probably why a tower was built here for observation/control.

View of the Naab Valley

Highlight • Viewpoint

The place is unfortunately only accessible on foot as it is quite off the beaten path! Nevertheless, the visibility is excellent when the weather is good and the spot is perfect for a rest!

August 6, 2025,Auf dem Jurasteig von Duggendorf nach Pielenhofen und zurück
In cool temperatures, we set off from Duggendorf, on the left bank of the Naab, onto the Jurasteig trail. The magnificent path leads tunnel-like through the beech forest, past rock formations – and every now and then, you can even see the Naab flowing towards Pielenhofen.
The eye-catcher in Pielenhofen is, of course, the monastery complex with its baroque monastery …

Today we went with my neighbor to the Naab slopes between Duggendorf and Pielenhofen.
The round was very nice, just a little before Pielenhofen (crash site with death) was very demanding. Nothing works without a head for heights and sure-footedness!
I was very happy when we had this part (100 m) behind us. 🥹🥹
This time it worked again with …

Beautiful Jurasteig circular hike from Duggendorf to Pielenhofen. Most of the time you hike on beautiful trails and paths above the Naab. A certain degree of surefootedness is required in some places, because right next to the partly narrow paths with many roots and stones, it goes down very steeply in places.
