Laguna de Uña

Highlight • Lake

On the shore of the lagoon there is a space with benches and a fountain to prepare the equipment. The trail coincides with the PR-CU 37 short-distance trail. The usual direction of the trail is counterclockwise, first it goes up El Escalerón and down La Raya, as indicated on the information panel. In our case, we consider it more comfortable to do the tour in a clockwise direction and leave the bird observatories and tourist visits for last. The trail leaves the town along a dirt track parallel to the canal that surrounds the lagoon to the south. On the trees there are white and yellow marks from the PR-CU 37 and red and white from the GR-88 trail, but they are poorly defined. About 300 meters away, a viewpoint appears on the left of the road over the Cuevas del Batán and the tuff block that closes the natural outlet of the Rincón stream, where the Uña lagoon has formed.

View of the Laguna de Uña

Highlight • Viewpoint

The town of Uña offers us a wonderful place in the heart of the Serranía de Cuenca. Very close to the town center is Laguna de Uña, an ideal place to visit with the family and which you can completely surround by traveling along an easy and picturesque path.

La Raya de Uña

Highlight • Natural Monument

The trail climbs the foot of the mountain that forms the pedestal of the stone walls and leads to La Raya, a completely horizontal natural step created by environmental erosion in the center of the calcareous walls. The views of the Uña lagoon, the town and the Júcar valley are magnificent. The path follows the ledge of La Raya to the left, looking for the natural way out of the path, but it is worth turning right and going completely through the narrow passageway to the end, a good place to watch the flight of vultures, eagles and with luck some Egyptian vulture that lives in these mountainous contours.

The trail continues along the forest track that runs along the edge of the calcareous walls and along the way there are natural viewpoints of the Júcar canyon, the Uña lagoon and the town of Uña. The trail PR-CU 37 passes through the last viewpoint and shortly after turns off the trail to the right to go down towards Uña via El Escalerón, a mountain path carved into the calcareous walls to connect the town of Uña with the mountains of the Wood Mill. The trail passes through a trout fish farm, the most common species in the rivers of the Serranía, and then through the River Fishing School.
