Newbiggin-By-The-Sea Promenade

Highlight • Trail

The promenade at Newbiggin-By-The-Sea is a popular walking area, plenty people use the wide pathways. There are pockets of sand that has been blown onto the surfaces by winds coming from the sea. Dry sand is not the best surface to ride on but these were not long segments

Eye catching bronze and steel ‘couple’ statue placed 984 feet (300 m) out to sea by artist Sean Henry. The sculpture depicts a woman and man looking out to sea, standing on a large platform.

Newbiggin Beach

Highlight • Viewpoint

A fantastic example of a beach in the north east of England. Golden sands and freezing cold water.

Well worth a stop off to explore the beach, the promenade and the many shops and eateries. Swimming is at your own risk, but highly advised ;)

Newbiggin Sandstone Quarry

Highlight • Structure

A stone quarry carving away the coastline and what look like ancient settlements from within the cliff face

Cliff Erosion Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

The cliffs in this area are quite weak and hide tides cause coastal erosion. There is a single track running adjacent to the cliffs, some parts of the track have the erosion touching. Be careful and keep watching your ride line for patches of the track. You can still ride over this area though
