The main parking site for Stanage. There are more options up towards the pass and further down the road if it is too crowded here (but often the fluctuation is quite high with many only going for a short walk and climbers having different preferences for times of the day).

Stanage Edge Viewpoint

Easy way up from the parking - one of the easy places to get a stunning few with low effort. Great starting point to stroll further along the edge towards north-west (or the opposite direction to hit the road soon again). Always nice to watch the climbing and bouldering on the gritstone.

Stanage Edge is an awesome gritstone escarpment standing high above Hathersage in the Peak District National Park.

It's a very popular climbing destination with hundreds of routes up the steep, slabby and sometimes overhanging cliffs. If you walk along the top, you're likely to meet climbers and if you walk along the rougher path below the cliff you can watch them.

The trail along the top of the edge is well made and offers a few miles of excellent walking with great views. There is a trig point at White Path Moss at the eastern end and another slightly higher at High Neb to the west.
