Redbrook Gravel Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

A gravel continuation of the Wye Valley Railway path that gets you off the main road for a few km before dropping you off at the pub and the railway bridge.

Really pleasant. Bigger tyres recommended but doable on 28s.

Bigsweir Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

This elegant cast-iron road bridge was built in 1827. It's about 600 metres upstream of the weir, close to Bigsweir House.

Tintern Riverside Walk

Highlight (Segment) • River

Lovely riverisde road in Tintern. There's plenty of benches overlooking the water so it's a lovely spot for a picnic.

Old Railway Bridge, Tintern

Highlight • Viewpoint

A bumpy and rattly crossing which is great fun.

Tintern Abbey

Highlight • Historical Site

Beautiful abbey. Lots of pubs and the like nearby for food but I recommend the Filling Station cafe. The owners are keen cyclists and you can borrow their track pump …

Brockweir to Bigsweir Wye-side Bridleway

Highlight (Segment) • River

It's a bit bumpy in places and a bit sketchy in others, but a pleasant ride off the main road. I'd prefer 50mm rather than the 40s i had on.

Monnow Bridge and Gatehouse

Highlight • Monument

The bridge crossing the River Monnow is the only surviving medieval fortified river bridge in Britain where the gate tower stands on the bridge.
