Path Between Halde Haniel and Schöttelheide

Highlight • Trail

As we know, Rome wasn't built in a day. And especially not by a single person. The region's man-made "mountains" also prove that many things can only be achieved together.

Wheel of Fortune Exercise: Internal Development Goals 4 - COOPERATION

Collaboration needs to be learned and practiced. Especially when success depends on different people, perspectives, and skills. We ourselves are (only) a part of these.

Especially when it comes to large projects and goals, we cannot be successful alone. What example from your own life comes to mind? And how have the following aspects of cooperation contributed to this?

(1) Communication
What do others think? And what do I mean? How do we deal with contradictions?
(2) Co-creation
How can decisions be made in a way that satisfies those involved?
(3) Integration
How can different perspectives and skills be taken into account to improve the outcome? (4) Trust
How can I trust others, especially when I'm insecure? And how can others trust me, especially when they're insecure?
(5) Activation
How do we inspire each other with ideas and goals? And how do we get on our feet and start taking action?

Jacobi Trail

Very nice and, above all, quick way to Centro-Oberhausen or further to the city center. Few intersections with roads and easy to navigate. I use the route very often.

Olgapark Observation Tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Olgapark is a disused site of the former Osterfeld mine. The International Horticultural Exhibition has already taken place on the site.

The Gasometer Oberhausen is an industrial monument in Oberhausen and the highest exhibition and event hall in Europe. It is one of the panoramas and landmarks as well as the anchor points of the Route of Industrial Heritage and is also integrated into the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). The gasometer is located in the new center of Oberhausen directly on the Rhine-Herne Canal.

With a storage volume of 347,000 m³, 117 meters in height and almost 68 meters in diameter, it was Europe's largest operating disk gas holder until 1988.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice, also known as the Dancing Electricity Pylon, was built in 2013. Looks very nice if you drive along the canal.

Bernhard-Jäger-Weg

Highlight • Trail

It is often on my route. Often well visited in summer. Directly behind it is the large pond with a playground and seating. Geese can often be seen here.

Köllnischer Wald

This has been our running and cycling route for years. It's nice and cool in the summer and not overcrowded. It's a wonderful place to relax, despite being relatively close to the city center.

Boye Riverside Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

The Emschergenossenschaft has now completed the renaturation of the Boye in the urban areas of Gladbeck, Bottrop and Essen. The Boye is one of the largest tributaries of the Emscher. A total of 7.6 km of the original open wastewater course has now been redesigned to be as natural as possible. The embankments have been made flatter and more varied. The Boye's dead-straight course is now a thing of the past. Where possible, the river is now allowed to make its natural curves and nature is reclaiming the river. New footpaths and cycle paths have also been created parallel to the water, which are connected to existing roads and paths. It's really a great success.😊👍
