Cykelslangen (The Bicycle Snake), Copenhagen

A beautiful shortcut bridge from Vesterbro to Amager. Lots of traffic, so be careful - especially if you are a tourist that is not used to cycling in Copenhagen.

Christiansborg Palace

Highlight • Castle

Christiansborg Palace (Danish: Christiansborg Slot) is located on the island of Slotsholmen in the center of the Danish capital Copenhagen. It houses the heads of the three branches of government of the Kingdom of Denmark and is the only representative building in the world that brings together the highest representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial branches under one roof: In addition to the rooms of the Folketing Parliament, the palace also houses the Supreme Court, the Prime Minister's office and reception rooms of the Danish Royal Family.

The current building was built between 1906 and 1937 in the neo-baroque style. The palace is roughly divided into two halves. The southern half is used by the Danish Parliament, the northern half is reserved for the Royal Family, the Supreme Court and the Prime Minister's Office.

Kastellet (The Copenhagen Citadel)

Highlight • Historical Site

The Kastellet is one of the best-preserved fortifications in the city of Copenhagen. The structure is in the shape of a five-pointed star, with bastions at its points. In addition to military facilities, it houses a church and a windmill.
Although the Kastellet is still used by the Danish military, it now primarily serves as a destination for excursions and a local recreation area. It is located in the northeast of the city not far from Østerport station and is served by bus lines 15, 19, 26, and 1A.
Admission is free; the Kastellet is open daily from 6 a.m. until sunset. The grounds include a natural park, which is also extensively used by the residents of Copenhagen and is home to numerous animals.
Two smaller museums are also located within the complex. A military ceremony for the changing of the guard takes place daily at 12 p.m. In the summer, concerts with military music are held at 2 p.m., which are also worth attending.

We continued to the Copenhagen Opera directly on the water with a view of the city. Back over one of the many bridges into the city center with lunch in the market halls 👍👍. Then to the …

We traveled to Copenhagen to experience the city as cyclists. It was impressive how relaxed and quick, and how considerate it was.
