Sven Schoening was born in Hamburg in 1965. In 1986 he studied physics at the University of Hamburg and in 1988 art at the Freie Kunstschule in Hamburg. From 1989 to 1994 he studied painting and sculpture at the University of Fine Arts in Kassel with Professors Wang Ganyi and Reiner Kallhardt, whose master students he became in 1995. Since then he has worked as a freelance artist with his own studio, first in Kassel and since 2001 in Lübeck. 1998-1999 fulfilled Schöning teaching assignments for sculpture and free art at the University of Fine Arts in Kassel, 2002-2011 at the art school in Lübeck. Since 2001 he has been a member of the professional association of visual artists in Schleswig-Holstein. He lives and works in Stipsdorf near Bad Segeberg.
