The fountain, which depicts water-spouting sea lions, a rock, a boat wreck, and a naked youth with a naked girl rescued from the water by him, has only been in its current location since 1929. The founder, Emma Mühlenbruch, a commercial councilor and widow of a cigar dealer, is said to have fainted at the unveiling of the fountain due to the "immoral" depiction of the nude figures.
