At the Woltersdorf lock it is possible to rent a raft and float in the surrounding waters. For a long time, the sluice served as a way of transporting the limestone and lime that was mined in Rüdersdorf by water.

Even today, some companies still use this route to transport their goods. Over the centuries, the lock has been expanded more and more in order to be able to cope with all the oncoming shipping traffic, including that in the leisure sector. It is about 65 meters long and eight and a half meters wide. A lock passage takes about 16 minutes.
