Highlight • Bridge

On the first stage of the Schluchtensteig one of the highlights: the bridge of the Sauschwänzlebahn as a truss girder bent downwards. There are a few more of these, but …

Wutachflühen Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

The Wutachflühen (Flühen = rocks) stand for towering rock towers, gigantic ferns, moss-covered stones and gnarled roots. You pass this section of the jungle on partly exposed, narrow paths with a low risk of vertigo.

March 2, 2026,Blütenrausch in den Wutachflühen 💚💚💚
Every spring, I try to do a hike in the Wutach Gorge. This year, I've put together a new route. The starting point is in Weizen, at the parking lot by the Sauschwänzlebahn railway, which is still closed for the winter.

A nice tour without big gradients. The first few kilometers are quite adventurous - you climb into the Wutach Gorge on the narrowest paths that you can usually only guess through the autumn leaves. In some places it goes down so steeply to the right that you shouldn't allow yourself to slip up here - a head for heights and …

After about 2km it went off the road on an enchanted trail in the Wutachflühen. We followed this to the Wutachbrücke of the Sauschwänzlebahn …

Today our stage destination was Stühlingen. In between, the Wutachflühen awaited us, that wild gorge section we had heard so much about.

First, we passed the pretty Jakobskapelle

and followed a paved road for a long time.

Then, for a long time, I followed a beautiful, very narrow path – through the Wutachflühen – above the Wutach. From the right, I heard the rushing Wutach, and from the left, the incredibly loud birdsong. But concentration was required, …
