The Cascina was built in the western part of the Oreno territory at the end of the 16th century. The owner of these lands was the Sovereign Military Order of Malta which had assigned them in usufruct to some members of the Scotti family: Bernardino and Ottaviano, Knights of the Order of Santo Stefano. Later, the Scotti family decided to clear a large area to be used for cultivated fields. With this intervention, a large quantity of wood and clayey earth was obtained. To use these, the Scotti counts built a special furnace, the Cascina Pignone, to transform the clay into bricks which were also used to build the bell tower of the Duomo of Monza.
