Vallesinella Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

In 2014 the old and small Vallesinella hut was replaced by a modern wooden structure. The mountain hut is an ideal starting point for long hikes in the Brenta Dolomites. There is also a large parking lot for hikers right by the hut.

Vallesinella di Mezzo Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Very easy, but quite long trip (circle) into great Vallesinella and its falls. Starting from Madonna di Campiglio and staying always at the same altitude (between 1.500 and 1.700 mt) to Malga Vallensinella di Sopra (the “top” hut) and than going down into the woods following the river and its hundreds of falls down to Malga Vallensinella di Sotto (the “bottom” hut) and Cascate di Mezzo where you can see the a beautiful (and larger) falls. From there coming back through another trail (below the previous one) to Madonna di Campiglio.

Evaluation: 8/10

A beautiful path that connects the village of Madonna di Campiglio with Vallesinella where it is possible to admire the waterfalls. If you are tired from Vallesinella you can take the shuttle back to Madonna di Campiglio.

Madonna di Campiglio

Highlight • Settlement

Madonna di Campiglio with the famous Brenta Dolomites in the background is located not far from the pass of Campo Carlo Magno, which connects the upper Val Rendena to the Val di Sole. The tourist resort of about 750 inhabitants is among the best known in all of Trentino and is located at an altitude of 1,550 meters. Madonna di Campiglio has been the stage venue of the Giro d'Italia several times and is a popular destination for skiers and winter sports enthusiasts, especially in winter. Right here, on the "3 Tre" slope, the special slalom races of the Alpine Skiing World Cup are held.

Built between 1894 and 1895 on the initiative of the entrepreneur Franz Joseph Österreicher, the neo-Gothic-Tyrolean style church replaced the old priory church, annexed to the hospice and between the two parts of the new recently inaugurated Hotel Des Alpes from Österreicher. The imperial family of Austria financed some internal decorations, still visible today together with the entrepreneur's tomb. It remained the main church of the town until 1972, when the new and larger church of Santa Maria “Nuova” was built nearby. The church preserves some artistic works of particular value: the very ancient Crucifix and the altar with doors from the late Gothic era.
