Volpaia is a beautiful, compact village at the end of a long dead-end road at an altitude of 600 meters. Nevertheless, there are several places to stop for refreshments and a lovely hiking trail that loops southwest from the village, alternating between shady forests, scenic vineyards, and postcard-perfect cypress avenues.
