Parsonage Wiesentheid

Highlight • Historical Site

The vicarage is a listed building in the center of the Lower Franconian market town of Wiesentheid. It was built by master builder Johann Leonhard Dientzenhofer. The vicarage marked the beginning of the baroque transformation of the center of Wiesentheid. It forms the counterpart to the castle, which was expanded between 1711 and 1720 in the Baroque style.

Catholic Parish Church of St. Mauritius

Highlight • Religious Site

Wiesentheid became a parish on February 26, 1364 by decree from Prince-Bishop Albrecht von Hohenlohe. A hundred years later, in 1464, there was the first report of a church dedicated to St. Mauritius in the form of Gothic in the place. During the Reformation, Protestant worship took place in the church until 1627, under Count Otto von Dernbach, the Counter-Reformation was enforced in Wiesentheid.
