Church of the Redeemer, Fürstenwerder

Highlight • Religious Site

In the middle of the 13th century it was built as a field stone building on a hill. In 1740, during the great town fire, the church burned down and was gradually rebuilt in the following years: the nave in 1758, the wooden galleries in 1767 and 1779, and the tower in 1786. During the reconstruction, the tower received its square turret with a slate lantern. The pews probably also come from this period. The last major renovation of the church took place in 1961/62.
The sanctuary was created in its current design, with the altar, the pulpit and the baptismal font in particular being made of bricks. Two steel bells that were cast in 1926 hang in the tower today as a replacement for three bronze bells that were drafted in World War I for armaments.
The organ was built in 1877 by the Szczecin master organ builder Grüneberg. In 1997 it was restored and the front pipes, which had been missing for a long time, were replaced.

Spur der Steine Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

On the bike path you can also hike very well in scenic surroundings.
The fact that the Uckermark is a very "rocky" area cannot be overlooked here: cultural-historical brick Gothic buildings, Stone Age large graves, consisting of huge boulders, old field stone buildings, ... the "trail of stones" leads from Templin to Boitzenburg over 55 kilometers and Fürstenwerder to Warbende on the border to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In the middle of the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park. (Source: reiseland-brandenburg.de/poi/uckermark/radtouren/radweg-spur-der-steine/)
The cycle path runs along the route of the former Fährkrug-Fürstenwerder railway. Interesting and extensive information on the history of this railway line can be found at:

The beautiful lake invites you to take a break. There is a bakery and a small shop in town where you can stock up for a picnic. The lake is still in Brandenburg, but immediately afterwards you cross the border to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Fürstenwerder Erratic Boulder Garden

Highlight • Natural Monument

In the period from 20,000 to 10,000 AD, northern Europe was covered with an ice sheet up to 3,000 m thick. The glaciers have repeatedly advanced far to the south. The masses of ice were constantly in motion, enclosing debris and boulders that got in their way and transporting them with them. Only where the ice began to thaw at the end of its journey did it spit out its stony cargo. The glaciers transported Scandinavian rock towards Uckermark like a conveyor belt. Anyone who knows how to read the tracks of the stones can still understand this Ice Age journey today. The boulder garden in Fürstenwerder helps the visitor to decipher the heritage of the glaciers. Here you are standing in front of a large block of granite which, according to analyzes by geologists, comes from near Stockholm. Reddish and gray granite, dark, fine-grained basalt, light-colored sandstone - a whole collection of such well-travelled stones adorn the boulder garden.
- Created in 2001/2002
- Size of the entire garden approx. 1,000 sqm
- 66 boulders were recovered in and around Fürstenwerder.
