Lake Neuenkirchen, the proximity to Lake Schaalsee, and the many small hills invite cycling and hiking. The church, with its adjoining cemetery, rests on a hill overlooking the lake and was first mentioned in sources in 1194. which invites interpretation. The oldest part of the church is the choir, with two simple vaults and window arches in the transition from Romanesque to Gothic style.
A special eye-catcher is the mostly closed altarpiece with figures from the pre-Reformation period. The church is used especially in the summer months
for summer church services as well as for major feast days throughout the year.
In 2023, work was carried out to renovate the interior of the nave.
The church is open to the public. You can obtain a key after registering
at the Döbbersen parish office or on-site at the inn or from Ms. Lenzner
across from the church.
