Friedrich Josias of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (* 26 December 1737 at Ehrenburg Castle in Coburg; † 26 February 1815 in Coburg) was a prince of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, Imperial Field Marshal and Imperial Field Marshal.

In Coburg, Friedrich Josias acquired several properties and had the so-called Bürglaß-Schlösschen built. He lived there in seclusion and wrote his life story. With the death of his brother Ernst Friedrich, he became the senior of the Ernestine house in 1800 and received the seniorate of Oldisleben with his income.

The people of Coburg revered him, especially since in 1806 he was able to protect their city from looting and pillage by the French army in the war against Prussia, pointing out that he himself had stood with an army on French territory for two years without plundering. He died on February 26, 1815 and was buried in the Morizkirche in Coburg.

Prince Friedrich Josias was the most successful general of the House of Saxe-Coburg. From 1750 onward, he led the Austrian army and later the German Imperial Army in numerous battles. His most significant victory, from Coburg's perspective, came in 1806. In tough negotiations, he saved his hometown from looting and pillaging by Napoleonic troops. This made him unforgettable in the fortress town.
