In Berlin's historic center there is a gate to a wonderland: the gate to the wonderful world of 'Wild Matilde'. Anyone who walks through feels the spirit of a fairytale era and embarks on a journey through old Berlin with the colorful, shimmering show magic of the 1920s to 1940s. The Wilde Matilde is a place in the middle of the capital where “Hinz and Kunz” meets for a coffee chat. Away from the hustle and bustle of today, Matilde tells you the story of her youth here.

In the Nikolaiviertel with a view of the television tower, Berlin Cathedral and Berlin Castle you can experience the story of Wild Matilde. The bar is a chain carousel, rococo furniture and old pictures of Berlin create a special atmosphere. It is colorful, dazzling, playful and cozy. A place for those with a sweet tooth, nostalgics, contemporary witnesses and anyone who wants to immerse themselves in an enchanting world. Come in!

As far as I know, the "Schwalbennest" restaurant used to be one of the better ones in the GDR era. The houses in the Nikolaiviertel were all built in GDR times, some even made of prefabricated concrete parts.
