    The town hall was built in the years 1410-1474 in the Renaissance style. On the first floor there is a Meißner porcelain glockenspiel, which plays the climbing song "Glück auf, Glück auf das Steiger kommt" every day at 11:15 am and 4:15 pm.

        The dominant building on the square - Obermarkt 24 - is the broad town hall standing on the northeast side of the market square, which was built between 1410 and 1474 and into which parts of a previous building were included. It is a typical Renaissance building. In later centuries a number of alterations were made, e.g. B. Replacement of the late Gothic pitched roof with the now preserved gable roof and the gable was remodeled in a historicizing manner in 1857. The presented tower houses a tower clock that points to all four sides. At the northeast corner of the building there is an extension from 1912 in place of the former town front festival (Stockhaus). On the first floor there is the Lorenz chapel (1514) and, since 1986, a carillon made of Meissen porcelain with twelve bells, which intones the Steiger song “Glück auf, Glück auf, der Steiger is coming” daily at 11:15 am and 4:15 pm.             The beautiful mountain and silver town of Freiberg is definitely worth a visit. A particular highlight is a visit to Café Hartmann, which is furnished in the original Viennese style from 1926 and is now in the fourth generation. You should definitely try the Freiberg "Bauernhase" - a delicacy shrouded in an old legend.
            But Freiberg Cathedral, Freudenstein Castle and the Bergakademie are also an integral part of this romantic city.
