    The cathedral was rebuilt after the great fire in the city and inaugurated in 1512. In 1971 it was extensively renovated and restored. You can visit the cathedral for a fee, and concerts also take place here.

              Pope Sixtus IV elevated it to the cathedral in 1480, which has been an Evangelical Lutheran church since 1537.

                Every year it attracts tens of thousands of guests and visitors and can be viewed every day. It is planned to offer regular cathedral tours again from June 2021. In addition, Freiberg Cathedral is one of the most traditional places of church music in Saxony and Germany.
                For more than 70 years, organ concerts have been held every Thursday between May and October as part of the Freiberg evening music series, which are very well received. This year's evening music cycle will open on May 13, 2021 at 8 p.m. with an organ vesper.
                In addition, numerous visitors are drawn to the an average of 25 organ concerts, several oratorios and up to 400 organ music in cathedral tours every year.
