Katariina Seaside Park in Kotka is a spacious and versatile coastal park built on historic fortress ruins and a former oil harbour. The hiking trail around Tervajärvi (where järvi means lake in Finnish) winds its way along the partly rocky shoreline, offering easy access to the water, perfect for a refreshing swim, provided the temperature is right.

The Santalahti Nature Trail winds through narrow forest paths before opening up to a stunning rocky coastline. Along the way, you'll be surrounded by dense woodland, eventually emerging to breathtaking views of the sea and numerous small islands. The scenery is truly picturesque, but caution is needed—some rocks drop steeply into the cold waters below.

Since the suspension bridge was closed in summer 2024, the ferry is the only alternative for crossing.
