They also call Sluis Eefde the gate of Twente, because it is the only access to the Twente canals for inland shipping. Since 2020, the lock complex has 2 lock chambers, which has improved the accessibility of the ports in Twente. Around the lock, walkers and cyclists are more important than cars. Cars are guests, which is safer for all visitors who want to see the impressive complex in action.

Visit the More museum on the main street, look for Galerie In De School on Nijverheidstraat 3 (a bit hidden), eat an ice cream at Zo en Nu, drink a glass of wine on the terrace of More, eat a steak at Loetje or Eetcafé de Hoek (a menu on offer every day) and do some shopping at René Vos. Gorssel has a lot to offer.

In the middle of the greenery of the Achterhoek lies Kasteel Ruurlo, home to Museum MORE and one of the most atmospheric museums in the Netherlands. In this beautifully restored castle you can admire works by Carel Willink and Fong Leng, among others, surrounded by stylish halls and a picturesque park. The combination of art, architecture and landscape makes a visit special and surprisingly versatile.
