Nijenhuis Castle used to be a manor, a fortified castle. Het Nijenhuis was first mentioned around 1380. The different parts of the impressive structure date from different times. For example, the country house, which forms the core of the castle, dates from 1662, the towers at the front from 1791-1794 and the wings at the rear from 1914-1915.
