Borkum is the westernmost of the 7 East Frisian Islands. Unfortunately, the old milk stalls on the beach promenade are gradually being replaced by new ones. The originality and flair are unfortunately lost as a result.

Meeting point and promenade on Borkum with the music pavilion in the center. In front of the promenade there are 8 beach stalls offering drinks and snacks. Below the promenade there are attractive cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is a view of the beach and water from almost everywhere.

The south beach at the southern end of the beach promenade runs from the so-called "black dike" to the "Heimliche Liebe" restaurant with the electric lighthouse behind it and offers everything for a successful day at the beach. There is a designated dog beach for dog owners.

Borkum's south beach is much smaller than the main bathing beach in front of the Wandelhalle (north beach), but also has a lifeguard station, two beach kiosks (called milk stalls here), volleyball net, changing rooms, children's playground, beach tent rental, trampoline center, toilet facilities,... On the land side, the beach is bordered by dunes, the only buildings on the edge are the Heimliche Liebe and the red and white lighthouse. Every few hundred meters, groynes extend into the sea, on which and from which the children like to hunt for crabs, etc. When looking out over the sea, you can see the Dutch islands on the horizon, and all the ships to Emden or Emshaven sail along the beach. Overall, the beach is more family-friendly and, in my opinion, also the most suitable for children. I often went to the south beach to swim there. Here the water is not that far away and it gets deep a little quicker than on many other beach sections on Borkum.
