During your walk, you'll come across this charming pottery where the traditional craft of clay shaping and firing is still alive. The building and workshop exude warmth and creativity, and it's fascinating to see the process of turning clay into artwork up close. A short stop here not only offers a cultural and artisanal experience, but you can often also breathe in the aroma of fresh clay and admire the work of local artists.

Along the Eyserbeek stream, you'll walk through one of the most peaceful and picturesque areas in South Limburg. The water meanders between green meadows and ancient trees, while dragonflies and birds enliven the scene.

On the edge of Simpelveld station, nestled among the greenery and rolling hills of South Limburg, stands Signal House Post I. A small building with a big story. A signalman once sat here, steadily operating the heavy levers to set signals and switches in motion. Every sound of metal and cable was part of the rhythm of the day when steam trains still rolled through the valley. The building, constructed of Kunrader stone and wood, appears simple, but upon closer inspection, you'll see the marks of craftsmanship and time. The windows still look out over the tracks, as if guarding a past that will never entirely disappear.

Signal House Post II in Simpelveld is a national monument that is part of the station complex of the South Limburg Steam Train Company (ZLSM). It was built in the 1920s in a traditionalist style with a basement of Kunrader stone and a wooden upper section. Inside, there is an original control system with levers and cables that operated the signals, switches, and barriers along the track. This mechanical control system is a rare example of classic railway safety. The signal house played a significant role in the history of Simpelveld station, which opened on October 23, 1853. At the time, the station was the first border station in the Netherlands and served as an economic center on the railway line from Aachen to Maastricht. Passengers were checked here by customs officers, and the station was an important hub for passenger transport. Today, Signal House Post II is a must-see for railway enthusiasts and visitors to the ZLSM. The station is the departure point for the "Miljoenenlijn," a nostalgic railway line that runs from Simpelveld to Schin op Geul. During special events like Signal Day, visitors can visit the signal box and experience how traditional railway signaling worked.
