The Gebr. Remmerde mill is a unique one; it has a hexagonal shape. These mills are very rare in the Netherlands. Today, fewer than ten remain. The mill is no longer in use, but the current owner – the Remmerde family – offers guided tours.

The Gebroeders Remmerde mill is an exceptional mill. There are only 8 examples left in the Netherlands. The mill stands on a high brick base and is covered with roofing felt. Hexagonal mills are not very common in the Netherlands: in 2008 there were eight in total.

The Gebr. Remmerde is a hexagonal wooden ground-sailer in the village of Nederhemert (municipality of Zaltbommel) in Gelderland. Remmerde is capable of grinding. The mill has two pairs of millstones with which grain can be ground. The hoist is a drag hoist.

The mill's year of construction is probably 1716. This year can be found above the alliance weapons and in one of the stake irons inside the mill. The mill belonged to the property of Nederhemert Castle, a loan from Gelderland since 1379. Otto Frederik van Vittinghof, named Schell, married to Margaretha van Randwijck, was loaned to the castle in 1706. This pair is related to the two carved lions, above which an alliance crest is mounted, in the base of the mill.
