Gemert Castle is one of the village's most striking historical buildings. The complex dates back to the 13th century and was owned for centuries by the Teutonic Order, which had its commandery here. Because of this long history, you'll find a mix of architectural styles on the grounds: medieval elements, an impressive gateway, later residential wings, and a moat that encircles the entire complex. The castle itself is not freely accessible, but from the road and surrounding paths, you have a beautiful view of the walls, towers, and gatehouse. The surrounding area is charming, with old tree-lined avenues, water features, and historic outbuildings that complete the setting. It's a pleasant place for walkers to stop and take a photo or soak up the tranquil atmosphere around the moat.

The castle is currently being renovated. A 5-star Hilton hotel is being built. There will be apartments for sale (starting at €1 million). The restaurant GEM, featuring Michelin-starred chef Soenil Bahadoer, recently opened. Everything is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

Most beautiful track from the Helmond area. Nice ride to make with Vlierden and Deurne included.

Really a very nice track with a great flow. One of the best maintained tracks in the region. Super good to combine with the routes in Deurne and Vlierden.

The cemetery in Overloon contains the graves of 280 British and one Dutchman. Six of them are unidentified. In the autumn of 1944, there was heavy fighting in this area. Most graves date from this period. The layout of British cemeteries is uniform in all 140 countries where the Commonwealth War Graves Commission is responsible for the maintenance of the war graves.

Overloon War Cemetery is a British war cemetery on the Vierlingsbeekseweg in the Dutch town of Overloon. The cemetery was designed by Philip Hepworth. The graves are divided into 4 sections (numbered 1 to 4) with 5 rows (A to E) of 14 graves each in each section. There are 280 dead: 265 soldiers and 14 British Commonwealth airmen and one Dutchman. Most of the dead on this cemetery fell during the heavy fighting of the British Second Army in the period October-November 1944; the region south and west of the Meuse was then liberated from the Germans. The Battle of Overloon, a ten-day tank battle, then took place. More information about this can be found in the nearby Overloon War Museum.
