The Bedafse Pier is a well-known restaurant and café on the edge of the Bedafse Bergen drift sands, right on several hiking trails around Uden. Situated at a junction of sandy paths, the café has long been a regular stop for hikers, horseback riders, and cyclists entering or leaving the dune area. The building has the appearance of a classic Brabant rest stop, with a terrace overlooking the open sandy areas and the low forest edge. Its location near the sand dunes makes it a recognizable landmark during hikes in the area. For many visitors, the Bedafse Pier serves as the starting or ending point for a hike through the Bedafse Bergen, or as a resting place nestled among the sand dunes, heathland, and forest edge.

The place that van Hout has occupied in the community since 1908 (initially as a clog factory) is indispensable. For a long time it was the only veneer factory in the Netherlands and then grew into an international timber company, mainly in tropical hardwood from Gabon, Siberia and Suriname. The timber factory symbolised the solidarity and can-do mentality of Mill and provided a large part of the employment in the region for many years. The now deceased former director Toon van Hout was responsible for the construction of the chimney in 1943. When the chimney reached 55 metres, the masons came to him to report that there were still bricks left. The stone chimney on the former site of the Van Hout wood factory in Mill has been defining the skyline of Mill for years and stands out because of the life-size letters "van Hout". "At van Hout, even the tower is made of wood", was a common joke in Mill and is therefore called 'the biggest liar of Mill'. source: ontdekmill.nl
