A relatively large number of parishes or churches have adopted the patronage of Saint John—not a rare name in the almost two-thousand-year history of Christianity. They are sometimes dedicated to Jesus' favorite disciple, the Evangelist John, but mostly to John the Baptist (also: John the Baptist). This area has many beautiful hiking trails.

You would hardly notice it, staring at the beautiful surroundings, but here in the tree hangs a statue of Mary, with a poem. Take the time to view and read it, and don't forget to put your 4th stamp here when you walk the Camino Brabant.

The first mention of the parish dates from 1377, but the church probably existed longer and the first polder church was built here at the end of the 13th century. The church in its current form dates from 1951. As the name suggests, the church is dedicated to the beheading of John the Baptist, a prophet.
