The Borgvliet Dunes are the breeding grounds of the Nightjar. That's why those beams are there; stay behind them to avoid disturbing the nests! You can also sometimes see deer passing by in the distance.

Beautiful area. Different every season.

It's a very interesting experience to walk through a pond like this. The name Moses Bridge is fitting. Climbing the tower is definitely a MUST.

Here you can walk through the water with dry feet... or drive.

Bridge through the water

Brave the 129 steps and enjoy the beautiful view at a height of 25 metres. At this height you have a view over the West Brabantse Waterlinie, you can see all the way to Steenbergen and you can see the famous Peperbus of Bergen op Zoom. Even in foggy and rainy weather the view is famous. Ro & Ad Architects from Bergen op Zoom designed the Pompejus tower. In addition to a lookout tower, the Pompejus tower also serves as an open-air theatre. Just like the trench bridge in the moat of Fort de Roovere, the footbridge at 't Ravelijn and the Bunkertreppe at Benedensas, this tower is also a landscape and architectural icon.

The Borgvlietse Duinen is a vast area with sand drifts, crossed by the walking route Trage Tocht Zoomland. The area is reminiscent of the larger Loonse and Drunense Duinen, a little further away in Brabant, but in a more compact form. The landscape is rugged and quiet, with wide sandy plains and special nature.

In clear weather you can see the area from Steenbergen to Bergen op Zoom and from Roosendaal to Tholen.
