Radboud Castle is located directly on the harbor of Medemblik and was built around 1288 by order of Floris V as a fortress to keep the region under control. Two wings, several towers and parts of the contours of the original castle are still visible, giving you a good idea of the medieval layout. An interesting stop during your walk, especially for those interested in the history of West Friesland and the role of castles in the landscape.

The rest of the town is actually nicer than the harbor - this would do well with a few more historic ships.

De Dromedaris, the southern city gate of Enkhuizen, is the building dominating the old port. Right next to it is the lift bridge that takes you to the other part of the city.

Worthwhile museum in a historic building - the sound of steam engines is always beautiful.

Interestingly, the lighthouse annex to the house is located behind the dike, and not on top of it as is often the case.

Lighthouse De Ven Lighthouse De Ven is a white square brick lighthouse on the IJsselmeerdijk in the village of Oosterdijk, about four kilometers from Enkhuizen. The tower was built in 1699-1700, making it one of the oldest lighthouses in the Netherlands. The tower has a height of 15 meters and the light height is 17 meters. Above the entrance there is a cartouche with the names of the founders. In clear weather, the lighthouse is clearly visible from the Enkhuizen-Lelystad dike. The tower is one of three light towers that were constructed to indicate the route from the Wadden Sea to Amsterdam.
