In 2025, the Outdoor Stereo Festival (Saturday, August 30) and Hoorn Zingt Hollands! (Sunday, August 31) will take place in Julianapark in Hoorn. Outdoor Stereo is a dance and urban festival, while Hoorn Zingt Hollands is a festival featuring Dutch hits. There's also the Grondslag Festival, a music festival for emerging and established talent, which will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at a location next to the water sports area.

The church was bought in 1984 for conversion into shops and apartments. The building has 36 residential units, 18 of which are located between the wooden barrel vault and the roof, with the remaining apartments in the former rectory at the rear of the church. The tower is owned by the congregation. The Remembrance Day ceremony is held in the church every year. On January 4, 1945, five men were shot dead in front of the church. A memorial to them is attached to the facade to the right of the tower. This spot is also the end of the silent march that takes place every May 4 in memory of the men. A hotel and restaurant opened on the ship in 2022.

The tower is located on the city's harbor. It was built in 1532 from Gobertanger limestone and brick. In 1614, the tower lost its defensive function, and the Northern Company moved into the tower. Almost 40 years later, in 1651, the turret was added to the roof. It was modeled on the tower of the Zuiderkerk in Amsterdam. In 1632, the tower was struck by lightning and subsequently destroyed by fire. The tower was subsequently completely rebuilt.

The first church in Hoorn stood outside the dike on the west side of the city. It was a small church made of wood and reed, dedicated to St. Cyriacus. This church was destroyed by fire in 1328, although it is also possible that this fire occurred in 1330. Another possibility is that the church was swallowed up by the water that year. Then we hear nothing about a church for a number of years until in 1369 a church made of wood and reed is built on the site of the current Grote Kerk on the Kerkplein. When the church was completed a year later and was to be consecrated by the bishop of Utrecht, the population wanted John the Baptist to become the patron saint. The bishop then decided to consecrate the church in honour of both saints: Saint Cyriacus and Saint John the Baptist (Jan Baptist
