Beautifully maintained park with countless paths

If you arrive at the Amsterdam train station by train, you should definitely look around there. The building itself, designed by Pierre Cuypers (the architect of the Rijksmuseum) and opened in 1889, is one of the city's most iconic buildings.

This is our second time here in the Netherlands - and we really like exploring the country here by bike.

Open-air museum with small green wooden houses in the typical Zaanstreek style, craftsmen (clog makers and cheese factories are worth seeing) and a whole series of industrial mills - most of which can be visited for a small fee (de Kat is recommended).

Beautiful old place. Good place to stop for coffee or lunch break during your bike ride.

A fantastic way, here are small shops with homemade soaps etc.

The windmills on the Zaan river can be seen from afar. An open-air museum of the 19th century: the industrial revolution in the Zaanstreek (region around the river Zaan) begins. What you see on the Zaanse Schans is what a Zaaner living and working area looked like back then: with courtyards, narrow streets, wooden houses, warehouses and mills, ditches and meadows.
