Naarden Fortress is one of the best preserved fortified towns in Europe and is best known for its unique star shape. Since 2021, the fortress has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Dutch Water Line. The fortress in its current form has been continuously expanded and adapted in the past. Water played a crucial role in this. It is a beautiful place for a walk or a bike or boat trip. The width of the path provides ample space for all types of cyclists, ensuring a great riding experience. The road is in good condition, making it particularly smooth and comfortable to ride on. It can be busy on weekends, but the beautiful scenery along the edge of the Soestduinen is worth it. The path is smooth and gently rolling, though you should watch out for other cyclists and walkers.
