From the Brünnsteinhaus, the Dr. Julius Mayr Trail, secured by a cable car, leads through impressive mountain scenery up to the Brünnstein summit (1,634 m). This historic trail, named after the Rosenheim physician and alpine pioneer Dr. Julius Mayr, was established at the beginning of the 20th century and remains one of the most beautiful climbs on the Brünnstein. The trail runs over rocky passages, mountain pine slopes, and secured rock steps, requiring surefootedness and a head for heights. The short sections equipped with cable cars lend the tour a touch of alpine character without being overwhelming. At the summit, hikers are treated to a unique panoramic view of the Inn Valley, the Wilder Kaiser Mountains, and the Chiemgau Alps—as well as the striking little Brünnstein Chapel, picturesquely perched on the rock.

Fantastic view and very good food

Very steep path, mostly through the forest, best avoided in rainy/wet conditions. If you have experience, it's also possible with children and backpacks, but they should walk directly in front of the adult and be secured at all times.

The Große Brünnberg (1328 m) is only 15 minutes from the Brünnsteinhütte and is easy to reach. It is decorated with a monument in honor of the former treasurer of the Rosenheim Alpine Club section, Ludwig Steiner, which was inaugurated on August 11, 1901. The view to the south is, like that from the Brünnsteinhaus, fantastic.
