Take the designated bike path, because the gravel section where cars have to ride is in incredibly bad condition. Your water bottles will shudder out of their holders!

This isn't the main entrance. This entrance immediately leads you past the old sheepfold (later a cowshed), the old abbey farm (built in 1640), and the old washhouse (built in 1640).

Don't hesitate to enter this abbey. The large courtyard is surrounded by various buildings that you can explore at your leisure. You can also visit a permanent exhibition, open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Historical tiered trees were usually formed in three tiers: the bottom tier represents the people, the middle tier symbolizes the clergy, and the top tier symbolizes God. The Westerlo linden tree has only two tiers, the bottom of which requires support. The original wooden fence was replaced in 1871 with a cast and wrought iron frame designed by Pieter Jozef Taeymans. The fence was severely damaged during a storm on November 6, 1921. The cast-iron fence was restored in 1987-1988, and the tiered linden tree also underwent thorough tree maintenance at that time.
