The Seceda summit is probably the most crowded mountain in the Dolomites these days... You should arrive before 8 a.m., because the first cable car takes you up at 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. Before that, you'll have peace and quiet, but afterward, it gets very busy and crowded. Those arriving on foot are best advised to take the ascent from Selva or the Cristauta parking lot... Once you get to the top, most people aren't interested in the Seceda itself. Because everything revolves around the view from the Seceda to the Odle Group... Although the panoramic view from the Seceda summit itself is certainly not to be sniffed at: you get a fantastic panoramic view. As of September 2025, there's a turnstile at one of the entrances to the Seceda with a €5 entrance fee, but you can avoid this!

The mountain's name is derived from the Latin word siccus (dry). It refers to the arid and dry pastureland below the summit.

The Seceda is the ideal place to take impressive pictures of the famous Geisler peaks.

The Plattkofelhütte is an alpine refuge in the Dolomites, located on the Friedrich-August-Weg at 2300 m at the foot of the Plattkofel.

The hut takes its name from the Plattkofel, the characteristic Dolomite peak that towers above.

The Seceda is a ski area for everyone who likes something a little more comfortable. Beautiful, wide piste, not too difficult and many rustic huts invite you to a relaxing day of skiing.

The Sasso Piatto Refuge (Plattkofelhütte) stands at 2,300 m above sea level, in the Giogo di Fassa area, the highest point of the Alpe di Siusi as well as the border between the municipalities of Castelrotto and Campitello, between the provinces of Bolzano and that of Trento. A magnificent viewpoint over the Marmolada, the Sasso Pordoi, the Sciliar, the Denti di Terrarossa, the Alpe di Siusi, the Molignon, the Catinaccio Group and the Ötztal Alps. Generally open from June to mid-October, it offers first-class hospitality with the possibility of staying overnight in dormitories for 8-10 people or private rooms for 2 to 6 people equipped with oak parquet and larch wood furniture. There is also a recreation room with library. Built in the early 1950s, it was expanded in 1971 and completely renovated in 2016.
