The Rifugio Passo di Vizze is located at 2,276 meters above sea level on the Italian-Austrian border, in the Ötztal Alps. It offers a refreshment service with typical cuisine and the possibility of overnight stays. The South Tyroleans call it Fane, and on hiking maps it is referred to as Fanealm or Fane Alm. The Italians call it Malga Fane. This always refers to the rustic alpine village above Mühlbach in the Valsertal, embedded in the spectacular mountain scenery of the Pfunderer Mountains. This is how you imagine a picture-book alpine pasture in the Alps! The Fane Alm consists of shingle-covered residential and hay huts, a small church and three alpine taverns on a lush green alpine meadow. The Fane Alm is rightly called the most beautiful alpine village in South Tyrol.

The Olpererhütte at 2389 meters offers an excellent overnight accommodation for climbing higher peaks. There are sleeping spaces for 5 people each and you need to bring sleeping bags. The hut also offers beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and the reservoir, making it an ideal starting point for hikes and mountain tours. The restaurant is also recommended and offers a diverse selection at reasonable prices. After a strenuous day in the mountains, you can enjoy delicious meals here and experience the cosiness of the hut.

The Fane Alm is located in the back of the Vals Valley and is a community alpine pasture consisting of residential huts, hay huts, cattle stables, a small church and three alpine taverns. It was founded in the Middle Ages when the plague was raging in the country and people found protection from the plague in the remote high valley. The alpine village remained intact even after the plague subsided and the population returned to the valley and has survived to this day.
