    The Fane Alm is located in the back of the Vals Valley and is a community alpine pasture consisting of residential huts, hay huts, cattle stables, a small church and three alpine taverns.
    It was founded in the Middle Ages when the plague was raging in the country and people found protection from the plague in the remote high valley.
    The alpine village remained intact even after the plague subsided and the population returned to the valley and has survived to this day.

      The South Tyroleans call it Fane, and on hiking maps it is referred to as Fanealm or Fane Alm. The Italians call it Malga Fane. This always refers to the rustic alpine village above Mühlbach in the Valsertal, embedded in the spectacular mountain scenery of the Pfunderer Mountains. This is how you imagine a picture-book alpine pasture in the Alps! The Fane Alm consists of shingle-covered residential and hay huts, a small church and three alpine taverns on a lush green alpine meadow. The Fane Alm is rightly called the most beautiful alpine village in South Tyrol.

                Nice pasture with lots of cattle :) On the weekend relatively busy, as it is on the way to Brixner hut. Fahrverkeher is then locked, and you park at the parking lot below. Who starts up during the week, of course, may still down at the weekend.

                                        A beautiful hike in a natural setting. Starting from Malga Fane (1,720 m above sea level), you can hike up to the mountain hut parking lot early in the morning. The parking lot is small and monitored, so when it fills up, the traffic light turns red and you can't proceed. Parking is paid, €8 for the whole day.
                                        From Valles, a shuttle service operates when the parking lot is full.
                                        An alternative is the trail from Valles up through the woods to the parking lot. It's a bit steep and strenuous in places, about an hour for less experienced hikers.
                                        Once you reach the large amphitheater, the view is idyllic: there's a village of high-altitude huts, a tiny church, and three mountain huts available from morning for breakfast, a snack, or a traditional lunch, with prices in line with the area.
                                        The Bressanone refuge is easily reached on foot, although the wide trail is quite steep in some sections; it's also accessible by mountain bike, preferably with pedal-assist.
                                        The refuge offers a wide selection of traditional dishes prepared with selected local products.
                                        The trail is very popular during the high season.
                                        Nature is unspoiled: grazing cows, rushing streams, and the frequent whistles of marmots.
                                        The trail is not difficult, except for a few steep sections.
                                        On hot days, a water bottle is essential. On good days, the three mountain huts are very busy, and it can be difficult to find a seat.

                                                  we are in a magical place and, according to some, the most beautiful alpine village in Alto Adige. I liked it a lot and the path to get there is of medium difficulty (some climbs but tough but short). No equipment needed. Upon arrival there are at least 2 huts where you can eat but they do not accept reservations.
