A lovely refuge in the shade of the woods, just down from the church of San Calimero, run by friendly and welcoming staff. Prices are reasonable, and the cuisine is traditional. Excellent service, including takeaway sandwiches and drinks. Payment by POS is also available.

The Riva Refuge is located at 1,022 meters above sea level in the Primaluna area, in Valsassina at Alpe Piattedo. The refuge is very charming, the food is excellent, and the view of the surrounding peaks is truly breathtaking.

easy to reach refuge

Located in Valsassina at 1,050 meters above sea level, the Riva refuge can only be reached on foot or by bicycle. It is open almost all year round, although in the colder months only on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. It is advisable to call to book, at the number 3287115705.

Wonderful view and ideal for staying longer and enjoying

Wonderful walk, done on 06/07/24. I didn't reach the top, I was missing 100 meters of altitude, as the ridge was snow-covered and very sloping, and since I was alone I preferred not to risk it, certainly to be done again without snow.

The refuge is open all year round. The cuisine is excellent and the pizzoccheri are worth trying. There is the possibility of staying overnight. To reach the refuge in winter it is recommended to equip yourself with snowshoes or crampons.
