This is a forest characterized mainly by the presence of cork oak (Quercus suber), an evergreen oak typical of the coastal ecosystems of the western Mediterranean, but rare in Lazio, where it is usually present in patches and not in large extensions like here. Inside the Sughereta there are paths that can be traveled on foot, ideal for walks, educational activities and nature observation. The forest is also home to some very ancient cork oak trees, such as “Tilo”, considered one of the oldest in the area.
