Piazza Grande, already named after Vittorio Emanuele II, is one of the most famous squares in the Veneto due to its particular stage shape, and is the backdrop to numerous cultural initiatives. The current appearance of the square is the result of a major restoration completed in 1993 designed by architect Toni Follina. In the eastern part of the square there is a figure-eight curve: commonly called "the sundial", it is actually a large analemma, which acts as a calendar thanks to the shadow of the central pinnacle of the Cathedral. Piazza Grande is overlooked by the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista, the Torresin, the Loggia Comunale, the Torresòn and other historic buildings, including the Palazzo Saccomani and the historic Caffè Commercio.

Those bridges and that environment closely resemble one of the most isolated corners of the province of Treviso, located at the confluence of the Meduna and Livenza rivers, on the border with the Pordenone area. The crossing of the waters, in a point where the banks are particularly high and steep and immersed in dense vegetation, is crossed by two narrow and ancient bridges, called Ponti di Tremeacque. The two structures, in the shape of a steel cage, represent a curious example of civil engineering "relic" from the beginning of the century: built in 1922 and restored in the 1980s, they create a particular contrast with the surrounding rural environment. The vegetation that accompanies the tortuous course of the two rivers is worth a walk among the cultivated fields and poplar groves, just as the banks can be explored with a mountain bike or on horseback.

Once an important Roman river port and then of the Serenissima, today Portobuffolè is an enchanting town with a Renaissance layout on which buildings from the Romanesque period are grafted. The symbol of the Municipality is the 10th century civic tower, 28 m high. The mighty tower, also known as "the prison", the only one remaining of the original seven that made up the city walls, constitutes a true effigy of the past splendor and allows the visitor to enter an atmosphere of other times.

Piazza Grande, Oderzo Oderzo Commercial center in the heart of Veneto The inconspicuous and yet important trading town of Oderzo northeast of Treviso is surprisingly pretty. The small town has always been a center for trade, agriculture and transport. Thanks to a navigable canal to the Adriatic Sea, it was once even used as a river port. The remains of the Roman era can be seen today in the city center and in the Archaeological Museum. Text / Source: zainoo.com https://www.zainoo.com/en/italy/veneto/treviso/oderzo

6월 14, 2023, Old River Port of Noventa di Piave
The park that stands at the ancient river port of Noventa di Piave can be reached from the city center through the embankment tunnel. The origin of the river port of Noventa dates back to the 10th century and is due to the will of Pietro Orseolo II (991-1009) Doge of the Serenissima. Thanks to his diplomatic skills, the doge managed to obtain a series of concessions on the Venetian mainland from the German emperor Otto III (980-1002). Among these in 996, the year in which the emperor went down to Italy to be crowned by the pope, he obtained the power to build a port and a market on the Piave, where Noventa now stands. The choice fell on this area because it was the terminal point of navigation on the Piave and was crossed by a road, the Calnova, which followed the path of an ancient Roman road linking the city of Altino and the territory of Opitergino (Oderzo). .

remained open until it was cheaper to transport by water than by road. The burci are the same ones found on the Treviso towpath: there are none here, but the Municipality has put up some photos to give you an idea of what this area was like up until the 1950s. Now it is a beautiful park, with a landing place and a barbecue area. The route is quiet and well-beaten up to Romanziol, an upstream hamlet: towards the sea it connects with the Piave cycle path
