The church was begun in 1280 by the Dominican order, in memory of the visit of friar Pietro da Verona to Ascoli in 1250. Construction continued until the 16th century. The facade of travertine blocks has three rounded oculi and a single portal with two flanking columns extending from a rounded pediment. The facade portal was designed by Giuseppe Giosafatti (1643–1731). The lateral portal faces the piazzetta and has Doric columns (1523), designed by Cola dell'Amatrice. Apse of the church On the side walls is an inscription with the tax and customs laws of the city. The interior with three naves has a number of travertine altars. The main altar was designed in 1724 by Giuseppe and Lazzaro Giosafatti, it is decorated with a Madonna del Rosario by Luigi Devò flanked by marble statues or the allegories of purity and humility. The church also has paintings by Lodovico Trasi, Giuseppe Angelini, Giovanni Battista Buonocore of Campli and Tommaso Nardini. The side walls have frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries. The relic of the Sacred Spine is sheltered in a 15th-century gilded silver reliquary by Nicola da Campli. (c) Wikipedia

This 16th-century public washhouse, partly renovated in 1905, is fed by water that, according to pious legend, was miraculously made to flow by Sant’Emidio to baptize the Christians of Ascoli. In the Middle Ages, the water was also used to purify the dyed clothes in the nearby workshops.

The Roman Bridge of Solestà is a very ancient bridge. In fact, it was built during the age of Augustus, even though it had been restored several times in the meantime.

The Church of Santi Vincenzo e Anastasio is a Roman Catholic church in Ascoli Piceno. It is located in Piazza Ventidio Basso, the hub of medieval commercial activity. It was built to the architectural specifications of the local Romanesque churches and later added Gothic features in the 14th century. It is considered one of the oldest and artistically most important religious buildings in the city and is of "great importance for Christian archaeology". Dedicated to Saints Vincent de Valencia and Anastasius the Persian, it belongs to the territorial jurisdiction of the Parish Church of San Pietro Martire. Its architectural features distinguish it from any other sacred building in Ascoli, since the characteristic square design of the facade corresponds to the style of the Cathedral of Assisi, the Church of San Pietro di Spoleto and the Church of Santa Giusta fuori le mura of Bazzano. It has been included in the list of Italian national monuments since 1902. (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santi_Vincenzo_e_Anastasio_(Ascoli_Piceno) )

It is incredible to think that a bridge built only with dry stone about 2,000 years ago can still today, with very slight adjustments of concrete on the roadway, accommodate the continuous transit even of motorized vehicles weighing a few tons. Furthermore, it was not in the least scratched by the terrible earthquake in central Italy that devastated the nearby L'Aquila.

The Piazza del Popolo got its current appearance around the year 1500, when a systematic beautification of the square was carried out. The entire piazza is paved with travertine and is considered to be one of the most beautiful piazzas in Italy. On the sides of the piazza are the "Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo" (today's town hall), the "Chiesa San Francesco" and the "Loggia dei Mercanti". Furthermore, several restaurants, wine bars and cafes are arranged around the pizza, including the well-known Caffè Meletti - just a beautiful place that invites you to linger and stroll. At the piazza you will also find the "Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo", today's town hall, which was built around 1530 in its current form. Under the architect Cola dell'Amatrice, it was created by merging three small buildings, with a new facade built in front of them to create a uniform front line, only the medieval tower remained unchanged.
