Colle San Marco is a hamlet of Ascoli Piceno, located in the hills above the city. From the Pianoro di San Marco, a large natural terrace, you have a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the Tronto Valley. Around the Pianoro, there are several signposted paths that lead to the woods, meadows and hills in the area. During the Second World War, Colle San Marco played an important role as a strategic location. Situated on a hill overlooking the surrounding area, it was used for military purposes, especially by the German troops. The location offered a good overview of the surroundings, which made it attractive for defensive positions. In addition, the area around Colle San Marco witnessed various conflicts and fighting activities, especially during the liberation of Italy in 1944. The presence of partisans has also been reported, who operated from these remote areas against the occupying forces. There are reports that the area was used as a hiding place and for consultation between various resistance groups.

This path is shared with the mountain bikers. Fortunately it was very quiet. Quite strenuous, with some challenging climbs. through a very beautiful environment. The path connects nicely to the 'Sentiero della Memoria'.

The Bosco dell'Impero is an oasis of uncontaminated nature, where ancient trees and silent paths offer a refuge of peace and serenity immersed in greenery. A cool place near the San Marco plateau.
