The Clavalité Sanctuary is a scenic spot in Valtournenche (Aosta Valley), dedicated to Saint Dominic Savio. It can be reached by hiking from Cheneil or Chamois and is famous for its spectacular views of the Matterhorn and the Grandes Murailles, offering a natural "balcony" over the valley. It can be reached via trail no. 31 from Cheneil, starting from La Barmaz, or via trails from Chamois, often combining several routes to create circular hikes.

Impressive view in good weather

The Rifugio Vieux Crest welcomes hikers in the heart of the Walser village of Crest, a few steps from Alta Via 1. Created from an ancient 17th-century rascard, it combines the rustic charm of tradition with warm and attentive hospitality. Here you can eat well, sleep comfortably and relax in front of a view that embraces the entire Val d'Ayas, with Monte Rosa in the background. It is the perfect place to recharge, letting yourself be enveloped by the silence and the scent of ancient wood.

The Bivacco Ulrich Lateltin, at over 3,100 meters, is a small refuge suspended between the peaks of the Aosta Valley, a place where wood and metal meet in an intimate and welcoming embrace. Here, among breathtaking views and an enveloping silence, all the fatigue of the journey dissolves, leaving room for an authentic mountain experience. With its twelve bunks and warm atmosphere, it is the ideal refuge for those looking for a simple but comfortable shelter, immersed in a breathtaking landscape. A stop that remains in the heart, perfect for finding yourself at high altitude.

Honestly, it added nothing to my knowledge, difficult to reach due to the slopes, quite a disaster and nothing special as far as architecture goes.

Once you reach the Sanctuary you can finally appreciate the beautiful panorama of the Matterhorn and the Grandes Murailles without neglecting the beautiful view of the adjacent peaks: Monte Roisetta and Grand Tournalin.

The climb is challenging... but spectacular. the view from the top... unique: Chamois, Lake Lod, on the opposite side you can glimpse the Gilliarey chapel and finally... THE MATTERHORN

Very well maintained bivouac, reachable from Colle Pinter and about half an hour's walk from the summit of Testa Grigia
